SA’IDU USMAN NASAMU DAKIN GARI -GOVERNOR OF KEBBI STATE

Governor Sa’idu Usman Nasamu Dakin Gari of Kebbi State was born at Dakin Gari on 13th September, 1959. After his primary and secondary education, he attended the Sokoto State College of Arts & Science for the Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) examinations (1979 – 1981) from where he gained admission into Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He graduated in 1984 with a B. A. (Geography).
On graduation, he did his National Service (NYSC) in Ondo State and on completion of his service year, he started work as a Town Planning Officer at the Sokoto State Ministry of Works and Housing from 1985 till 1989 when he joined the Nigerian Customs Service as Superintendent of Customs. In that year, he had professional training at the Nigerian Customs Training School in Ikeja, Lagos. Later, he had further professional training in Management and Computer Training in Automated System for Customs Data at the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON) in Badagry in 1998. In the same year he had further training at the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Computer Centre.
On leaving the Customs service, he went into politics and contested the governorship on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and won. Since he was sworn in on May 29, 2007, he had taken off from where his predecessor, former Governor Adamu Aliero, who is the former Minister of Federal Capital Territory, left off.
Since his accession to power, he has embarked on several development projects which are aimed at adding value to the life of Kebbi citizens.
