Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed has urged Governors of the 36 states to consider adequate funding of their information managers in order to tackle the rampaging tide of Fake News.
Speaking on Monday in Abuja at the ongoing Two- Day Media Conference organized by the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF), Mohammed said that state governors need to provide adequate funding for their information managers.
According to him the governors have the responsibility to adequately fund the office of the Commissioners for Information, Special Advisers, Special Assistants and Public Relations Managers in order to counter Fake News against their principals.
He also adviced the information managers to double their efforts in addressing the emergence of Fake News and Misinformation especially by the Social media and mainstream media.
